Click here for the article: Bright, Cheery Fabric for Celebrating any time of year from the Confetti Collection See more and shop the Collection here This month I’ve been noticing how hard it is to navigate the Spoonflower site for someone who may be visiting for the first time. You would think it straightforward, just type in my shop name “villaparkhearts” and my shop should appear, but no. They don’t have it set up that way. This makes it hard to shop by category, like bedding, or napkins. The merchandise with my designs are buried within my shop. So, if you ever get stuck trying to buy one of my fabrics either in yardage, or as a sewn item, please contact me and I’ll walk you through it! I’ll be working on a few blog posts for next month helping to navigate Spoonflower and what I’ve learned about the fabric industry. There is a lot of businesses stealing artist’s designs and I want to tell you about it so you can be an informed shopper.New Blog Post: My Work in the Bug Lab and the Asian giant hornetSome of you know that I work in an Entomology lab for Washington state and have been there for over 7 years. Be really kind to yourself. We aren’t meant to process all of the bad things happening right now. I’m looking for the helpers like Mr. Rogers encouraged us to do and I see them. I’m trying to be a helper, but it isn’t always easy. With gun legislation finally staring to happen, I do have some Hope! I Hope children and teachers will go to school next year in safety. February 2022
Join me on Patreon in 2022! Hi! It’s your favorite STEAM Ang, taken in my lab, pre-pandemic. I’ve been there twice in two years. I can’t believe it. I love my Science, but I love my Art more and that’s why I am contacting you. I’m sending this newsletter because I want you to know about some of the new, creative things I’m up to and I am so excited to share! My current patrons know that I had a specific goal of patenting one my originally designed bags with the US Patent office. I planned to use their support to pay for the filing fees. Unfortunately, because I had previously sold that bag to customers and it is still out in the wild, it is not eligible for a patent and will never be. I took too long to file and now I can’t. I was absolutely devastated by this. I cried. I felt like I had let them down. Then, a little bit of time went by and I decided I just needed another goal or two. So, here are my next adventures; 1. I will make a pattern of this special bag and have it for sale on my website. Along with that, I will have how-to videos on making the bag so you can make your own! This project will start out on Patreon only. I want gentle feedback from my trusted fans. Will you be one of them? 2. I am joining the #the100dayproject on Instagram. My plan is to be disciplined during this time to sketch and write about Colorado. Since my dad died last year, my mom worked really hard to downsize and move her entire life to an adorable new place. She sold the house I grew up in (living there for 54 years!) and I had a lot of feelings about it. I took lots of pictures for reference, knowing the house will be razed. Yes, you read that right. In addition, I tapped my Denver peeps on Facebook last year with polls and questions of their Denver memories. This gave me such good ideas and a solid basis for creating a body of work. Here’s a Teaser you; marbles, elm beetles, and grapes. 😀 My plan is to share the progress of this 100 days on my Patreon. Only my patrons will see what is going on behind-the-scenes. I will only highlight/tease some things on IG. My goal is to have a collection of patterns and possibly a set of greeting cards, or a small book with these works. I hope this will help hold me accountable. When other people check-in and watch my work, I create better. My patrons will be the FIRST to have access to any product that comes out of this time. Does that sound interesting to you? If it does, join my Patreon for this time period for as little as $3.60/month. This will be charged monthly on the first of the month. Stay as long as you like. Cancel anytime. No pressure. Over the years I have had patrons come and stay, or stay awhile then go. Subscribe to Angela’s Patreon here My first tier starts at $3.60/month which gets you immediate access to my content not available anywhere else. This includes poems, painting, photography, writings, and thoughts on the White center. Your first month I will send you a free download of one of my illustrations you can print and frame, or send as a card. Joining at a higher level will unlock access to live streams, polls, and other studio happenings! You’ll also find out about new projects FIRST before the rest of the world! My Yearly Gift to you when you support me for a year, I’ll send you a handmade gift in gratitude for your patronage. For 2021, my patrons received these gorgeous earrings, packaged in one of my patterns not yet in stores, inspired by my childhood home. Stick around to see what I send you February 2023! As always, I adore you and thank you for being interested in my work. Stay healthy and stay in touch. xo -Angela P.S. After my patrons, you saw these earrings first! Now you’ll notice them on my social media soon. 🙂 Join me on Patreon here Unsubscribe | Manage your subscription | View online Angela for Villa Park Hearts Tacoma, Washington Copyright Villa Park Hearts 2022 |

View this email online Volume 1 Issue 2. Summer 2021 Hello! Welcome to VPH second Newsletter. It’s been awhile since my last check in with you. How are you doing in this time of Corona? I have struggled some, honestly. I realized this past year I suffer from high-functioning anxiety. I have been practicing ways to take good care of myself, but truly, I have a lot of anxiety about the world opening up again. My level of trusting people has plummeted. I don’t see us caring about one another. 🙁 Even so, please know I care about you. I am still figuring out how to best connect and communicate with you on a regular basis online. Live IG chats? Reels? YouTube? Patreon? I’m leaning toward Live IG chats and have the recordings on YouTube. Is that even a thing? 😀 E. Jay Yoder May 28, 1939-April 29, 2021 Daddy and Daughter 1988 Pah and Mah and Me 2019 My dear dad passed away in April and that has been a big adjustment. He died in Hospice very peacefully and donated his body to science. The first few days of his passing I was so anxious. I felt like we just left him somewhere and we needed to go get him. It was bothersome for me not knowing where he was. Who had him? Who was taking care of him? Where is he? And then expecting him to come around the hall corner or come in from outside was a constant anticipation. I didn’t even want to sit on his part of the couch for the first week. Losing a loved one just sucks. I have been quiet about it because I don’t know how to share about it. Will I paint it out? Write it out? I don’t know yet. I’m still so sad.The work Hospice does is so caring and outstanding for the patient and the family. We learned a lot about the natural death process which we hadn’t before. One of the major Blessings was that one of the employees there was a life-long friend of the family, KK. What a comfort to have her there, encouraging us, helping us navigate the extremely hard decisions. We are so grateful to her and all of the staff there. Not necessary at all, but know that our family would encourage a donation to this facility in lew of sending us flowers : On a brighter note, I have continued to put my head down making new art, designs, and am currently working on my portfolio to submit to art directors. YIKES! I’m scurrrd. haha But I’m going to do it anyway. Wish me well. Please help hold me accountable by emailing or texting me before July 14, my self-imposed deadline. New VPH logo I am also still very much thinking about and advocating for Black and Asian Lives. My commitment to smashing patriarchal white supremacy continues. Daily, I face my own privilege and how I can help lift others. I am slowly sharing how white people can de-center themselves around racial topics. It’s hard work, make no mistake. But, a consistent effort over time really works and I promise you will feel your heart lighten and open. It is in the best interest of all human-kind. You are most welcome to join me on my Patreon to take up your sword against all we have been conditioned to believe and unlearn implicit bias. Even doing the work a few times a month will start to change your thoughts around race. I have plenty of content for free, so don’t feel like this is a sell. Drop me a comment if you visit: Angela’s work on Patreon. If you are curious, search for these terms to learn more about them: de-center, decolonize, white privilege, implicit bias. Take good care of yourself and drink your water! Hugs xxoo Angela for Villa Park Hearts Tacoma, Washington Angela’s website Copyright Villa Park Hearts 2021 To change your subscription, click here. |
